breathe to heal

“Breath is the bridge that connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts.” - Thich Nat Hanh

Six Elements of BioDynamic Breathwork

  • Breath

Sessions involve pendulating between activating and calming the nervous system to ensure a meaningful and safe experience. Intentional, circular breathing charges the sympathetic nervous system, while slower breathing engages the parasympathetic system to soothe the physical body between activation.

  • Movement

BioDynamic Breathwork sessions can incorporate both somatic exercises and organic movement, including spinal unwinding. Letting the body move freely renews fluidity by relaxing fascia and opening up areas of tension.

  • Sound

Healing music accompanies the breathwork journey as a way of supporting the nervous system and enabling further release and relaxation. Vocalization and toning can also add to the experience.

  • Touch

Bodywork is often used during sessions to support the release of tension and stored trauma in targeted areas of the body. Touch may include work in the energetic field or at a deeper core level, allowing fascia and muscles to relax.

  • Emotion

Expressing emotion is a vital part of what makes us human and able to connect with ourselves and others. At times, BioDynamic Breathwork can instigate the release of emotions during a session but it is not the primary goal. Sessions allow for slow, emotional release in a safe environment to not overwhelm the system.

  • Meditation

Each session begins and ends with meditation. A beginning meditation helps build resonance between client and practitioner and allows the client to tune into their internal and external resources. Meditation completes each session so that the body has a chance to integrate the experience.
